The Stratosphere Tower made history in June of 2006 when it became the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. It took 35 years to build and was the tallest structure in the region until The Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur were built in 1998.
The tower has two observation decks which offer a 360 degree view of the city. In the summer the observation decks are open but they are closed in the winter. The tower is actually a communications tower used by NASA to send and receive wires and video from space.
The Winterlude festival is one of the city’s biggest events and takes place annually in the second week of January. The event is meant to celebrate the start of spring and thearding of the wisteria. Winterlude includes a free program of music and arts that takes place in the various venues around town. Ice sculptures, car shows and helicopter tours are just a few of the activities held during the winter festival.

Once you arrive at F pitch ski resort you will discover a world of skiing delight. It has the largest and highest terrain park in Alberta. There are six runs that are meant to challenge even the most seasoned skiers. It has fresh and clean air so the skiers do not have to worry about health problems like they do in the summer.
The runs range from beginner levels to the advanced levels and they are all connected so you will be able to enjoy the same slope all year long. Another skiing delight is the three chairlifts that can be found at the resort. These allow you to get back to the snow faster after arenching down the mountain.
This is the place to get into the festive spirit and to try the Fiesta Snowshow that is held every year during the winter. If you are interested in skiing then you will be glad to know that the ski resort has a five lane black and white and cross country ski race track.
The Ski Resort hosts Canadian and Swiss downhill skiing and snowboarding. However, the best part of the ski resort is the six ski schools that teach you how to ski by the snow. Even children are taught and love to ski. The six ski schools hold group lessons and private lessons for people that need ski equipment repairs.
The ski resort also offers ski owned and operated bus tours that take groups to the Three Sisters and Frederic Caye among other places. The ski resort also offers a great lift service that will take you back to the top when you are ready to ski again. You can even book a snowmobile tour to the next town, Lake Louise!
